Not five but six people lost their lives in the storm that hit Lakhimpur Kheri district on Thursday night. Three of the deceased were from Gola and three from Lakhimpur tehsil area. The dependents of the deceased will be given financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each from the Disaster Relief Fund. Those who are injured will be given financial assistance as per rules. The loss is being assessed.

Heavy rains accompanied by thunderstorms caused a lot of damage on Thursday night. Ghanshyam (40), son of Bade Lal, a resident of Dareri village in Padhua area, died when a tree fell on his car in Andeshnagar in Phoolbehad area. Indrapal (60), a resident of Lonipurva village in Fardhan police station area, died after being buried under a wall, 75-year-old Phoolmati, a resident of Bilaspur village in Aliganj area, died after being buried under a wall, and 38-year-old Vikas Verma, son of Haridwar Lal, a resident of Belwa village in Hyderabad police station, died after being buried under the debris of a wall.

Vinod Kumar, a resident of Imliya village, died when a huge tree fell on him. 70-year-old Suresh, a resident of Takeshvar, died when the gate of a guest house fell on him. After post-mortem of all the bodies, as per the rules, the dependents will be given a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh each. Three buffaloes, three calves and four goats also died in the disaster. In this, compensation of Rs. 37,000 will be given for each buffalo and Rs. 3,000 for each calf. Ali Hasan and Kaushalya Devi, who were injured in the disaster, will be given financial help.

ADM Sanjay Singh said that financial help will be provided to the dependents of those who lost their lives in the disaster as per rules. Houses and buildings have been damaged, their survey is going on.
